I was informed to-day that any nationality that is here in Australia under a two year temporary visa, when applying for a driver’s licence, is questioned in their own language.
Can someone please confirm this and if it is true does that mean that those who enter here illegally also, in time, will be allowed to apply for a drivers licence under the current Rudd government’s procedure that eventually classes them as refugees?
The consequences of such measures allowing them to obtain a licence an eventually letting them drive on our roads, surely is both alarming and very frightening.

both Mr. Turnbull and his front bench will continually have a fight on their hands. The Liberals have good policies but always other more titillating news gets in their way.

Purge of the Right demanded: I listened to Malcolm Turnbull being interviewed on the ABC AM program this morning. I would have to say that he was very positive about his members and their ability to govern while at the same time presenting himself as a very strong leader. Yes some may have to go but, when Labor can start getting their act together correctly, all I can say is that any negative articles and/or subjects regarding the performance of Malcolm Turnbull and his party members are as always spin, spin, spin by the come in spinner of the century –

I would also give Malcolm

Youth Allowance crackdown:
“Not only will young people
under 20 lose their benefits, but their parents will lose their family tax
benefits if their children simply drop out.
Mr. Rudd vowed he would not allow young people to do nothing during the
recession and would instead bankroll extra training to ensure they were
skilled in time for the inevitable recovery.”
Mr. Rudd said on ABC Radio Friday morning (1/5/09)
If our current Prime Minister, in his continual grabs at 15 minutes of fame, is to have us accept as true that his beliefs for mankind hinge on every word and deed proclaimed by him then he should take note:
“We all know that he won’t eat cake so why should we?”
(Rudd’s special meat-free meal or should that have read ‘cake-free?’ meal
could not be met.)
Robbing our young to pay our older citizens smells very much of socialistic ideals. Respect for the older generation will undoubtedly decline while unnecessary violence towards them could increase.
Trying to fit round pegs into square holes never has been a viable solution for any government. I agree that young unemployed people need to be trained. But, and it is a big but, training our young must not be at the expense of their lives and careers being dictated to them.

If they can’t support themselves or their parents can’t, then they stay in school or get a job. Do you think that most parents would be happy to say “sure drop out of school and sit at home all day playing video games, I’ll support you”, why should the taxpayer?

PM assures pensioners budget will not ‘slash and burn’ services: Will we be gathering nuts in May on a frosty morning? (Rose Taylor 12:30pm 01/05/09).
“Either you engage in temporary deficits and temporary borrowing to make up that tax shortfall (or) a complete slash and burn of government services, like not paying people the pension,”
[Mr. Rudd said on ABC Radio this morning (01/05/09).
Tony Abbott, while disapproving back in February of this year the possibility of old age pensioners getting an increase of $30-a-week in their fortnightly allowance, quite openly and calmly approves of Federal politicians getting a $90-a-week increase in their allowances. Regardless of the fact that politicians have not had such an increase for some years the timing of this approval and the acceptance of it by our government ministers leaves a bad taste in many mouths.
Why did we need a change of government? Was being secure a no no? Now that we have a change may I also ask “Why do some from the right lean to the left when there is something in it for them?”
While our current treasurer—the flapping swan—has all old aged pensioners waiting with baited breath to see if they will be cared for in the May Budget it should be pointed out that had they received the $30.00 per week increase as initially proposed by Dr. Nelson they would have had from December 8th up until the 12th May $570.00 (19 wks) in lieu of the $1,400.00 Stimulus Package, but, more importantly, they would know they would be continuing to get it and 52 wks equals $1,560.00. I know what I, and others of the same opinion as me, would have preferred.

AAP reports.
It is to be hoped that the police will continue to monitor not only his movements but those who unlike Ferguson escaped severe jail penalties for their molesting of children.

"Andrew asserted on insiders today that the $20 billion dollars in stimulus handouts is “wasted” “It’s gone.” he said, with a shrug and hand gestures as if it has disappeared into the ether.
It hasn’t. It’s circulating in the economy, or in bank accounts where it will eventually be spent.
And a very small proportion of the spent money has gone overseas. I was seated opposite a business man at an ANZAC luncheon. He told me that an item that retails in Australia for (can’t remember exactly but it was approximately $200) is manufactured in China for $17. The rest is largely paid to retailers their staffs, truck drivers, etc. “But there’s the cost of shipping it here.” I said. “Per unit, that’s negligable” he replied.
There is more to add but I am frequently told by the right on this blog that they have really short attention spans and have trouble following an argument that is more than two sentences long. Alas, some issues are complex and need a little explanation and a bit of supporting evidence.
So in order to accomodate them and avoid the snip, I will continue later."

Yesterday I went to a well known bulk stationary store that sells all the stuff I need for my OFFICE and WORK.
At the front door I was greeted by a pretty young thing in blue uniform, smiling and greeting all the customers with a complimentary Australian Flag and a big friendly.."HAPPY ANZAC DAY!”
When I asked her what we were celebrating, she replied. “It’s a holiday and everyone in the store is all feeling ‘SOOO’ patriotic today”.
When I inquired if she was feeling at all “reflective” or had spent any time remebering the sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women she replied..."What for?”
What for indeed. Welcome to Generation NFI.

How much more time do they need? I am at loss to understand the reasoning of the above statement. Am I to believe that anyone over 50 (as per those not permitted to take part in any of those polled by phone) does not have the intelligence and/or wisdom to form front benches of either side of government? It has only been through my years of experience as a very diverse citizen that I have reached the true age of both wisdom and reason. Please don’t tell me that having been elected as an MSEC delegate that those who voted for me have contributed to adding to the line-up of ageing representatives.

Police remove drunks from Dawn Service: I listened to Radio 774 Melbourne and was not made aware of the police removing drunks from the Dawn Service. However, I was made to turn off my radio when Jon Faine cut off Naimo (sorry I didn't catch her last name) giving her rendition of the part she played as the 'white mouse' in the movie, according to her, of our most rewarded female comrade. His insistence on telling the listeners that he sighted Mr. Brumby heading off to another official engagement and that Julia Gillard was yet to come onto the show was more than enough for me. Why he was on the Saturday morning show I fail to understand let alone his ravings and rantings given at the speed of a bullet? My father was a returned soldier from World War 1 and I have no hesitation in saying he would have been impressed by the ABC 774's broadcasting of the Dawn Service; I only wish they had kept the same standard of presenters and commentators as from 10:00 am on. Forum A Bolt Mon 20 April, 2009: Having been involved in the Australian TV and Film industry for more than 15 years I am not at all surprised that the ABC bends over backwards to keep the Rudderless government in power. While they can get more of the taxpayer’s money from the Labor Party in order to promote their ideals, then naturally their efforts are always going to be left handed ones. The money wasted on many of their TV shows was a sin when Keating ran our country, and I figure it is the same today with the current government.
On the evening of Saturday April 18th 2009, the ABC half hour nightly news would have to have reported up to fifteen minutes of the medical condition of the burnt illegal refugees, their progress and transport to various hospitals in order for them to receive urgent medical attention. Is it wrong of me to ask why don’t our own emergency patients get the same attention? If reports heard on local radio talk back shows, including the ABC and 3AW, are to be taken as gospel truth a great number of our public hospitals continually divert ambulances away from their emergency departments, and/or the person(s) requiring treatment are left for hours on trolleys waiting to receive urgent medical attention.
It goes without saying that life is precious, no matter whose, but, in a democratic society surely it must include not only those that enter our shores illegally but the very people who have made Australia the ideal country which initially attracts the unlawful entry of refugees and/or asylum seekers.
With the ABC pissing down our backs and telling us it is raining no doubt we will continue to be told that the polls are showing the popularity of our current Prime Minister is going higher and higher. Why wouldn’t it, especially if half the people being polled agree with ‘people smuggling’.

Excuses made as Rudd hides: It was both interesting and yet also disturbing to listen to Jon Faine’s 774 local morning radio program this morning when he chose to comment on the subject of people smuggling and yesterday’s sad end to the boat people who illegally tried to enter Australia. While suggesting that party politics were being played out he did not once concede that his own broadcasting of people smuggling was at times encouraging political scoring.
What I find ironic is that our government is using the same excuse for the decline of our economy e.g. - global recession – for the current increase of people smuggling happening along our coastline.
“Smuggling is a global problem.”
Following that conclusion by the government minister he interviewed, we as listeners, were then subject to our Prime Minster making a dull emotionless speech using the word industries when he meant to say injuries. Mr. Rudd you cannot read a prepared speech and expect the people of Australia to accept your words as genuine when you lack a sympathetic tone; no little boy to hug and kiss on this one Kevin.
Remember the old saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. It would appear that this is not a policy of the Australian Labor Government.

Training the new Rudd Guard: I was always of the opinion that the age of reason began when a child reached the age of seven to eight years old. Psychologically this is commonly accepted as the age when our children are deemed capable of carrying on a complex conversation with an adult.
Even at this age many children are still trying to come to terms with the meaning of life. Surely, Madam McKew does not expect our future young citizens to have their days of freedom destroyed by such Marxist teachings.
Having our country governed by the Labor Party is fast becoming more than an occasional night out at a Chinese Restaurant; rather a continuous daily bowl of inedible soup which Rudd himself refuses to consume but at the same time has no conscience when dishing it up to us.

Too mobile for Rudd’s lumbering Plan:
If users are to benefit from
faster on-line access it is to be hoped that a broadband facility will meet
their needs not only in 6 – 8 years, as recently proposed by the Prime Minister,
but most importantly will come with the necessary infrastructure to keep in line
with the technology of the future.
Getting this point across to the Australian public in general, has to be
regarded as the most important aspect of any proposal by the government to
provide Australia with a new super fast Broadband Network; and at the same time
guarantee that the outcome of such a venture will meet worldwide standards.

Rudd beyond Reach:
I find it interesting that Malcolm Turnbull’s approval rating is the same as John Howard’s back in the earlier days when he was looking to head the Liberal Party. No surprises if history repeats itself.
I keep up to date at what the opposition are offering and would have to say that the Coalitions’ plan recently put before small business accentuates the belief that –
“Small business is the most critical part of our economy - the source of much of Australia’s innovation, economic growth and job creation. In these difficult times small firms must be given the appropriate support to equip them to lead the economic recovery.”
There six point plan clearly shows that they are very much focused on the financial needs of this country. To read their Small Business Plan click on the following link: http://malcolmturnbull.com.au/Media/LatestNews/tabid/110/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/409/Small-Business-Action-Plan.aspx

Wealthy Schools Hit Jackpot: It has always been the same argument. Without the taxes of the higher income earners no school would be subsidised.
Surely if the Labor Party is guilty of helping the elite schools if it didn't they would be guilty of increasing class sizes in non government schools.

It’s manana from Kevin:
Pensioners don’t go mad spending your increase yet!! Your manana from Kevin won’t come into effect until the first pension payment due after September 20 2009. Does that mean self refunded retirees still have up to three and half months before they start to be penalised?
“Under the new arrangements the Government will provide an additional:
• $32.49 a week for single pensioners on the full rate of pension
• $10.14 a week for pensioner couples (combined) on the full rate of pension.
This brings the single rate of pension up to two thirds of the combined couple rate. From 20 September 2009, the maximum assistance for single pensioners will increase from around $304.19 per week to $336.68 per week and for pensioner couples from around $497.36 per week to $507.50 per week.”
Streamlined payments with greater flexibility:
“Pension payments will be simpler to understand and more flexible. The Government will simplify the payments system under the new arrangements by incorporating four existing fortnightly and quarterly allowances into a single fortnightly Pension Supplement.
From 1 July 2010, pensioners on the new arrangements will have the choice of receiving about half of the Pension Supplement on a fortnightly or quarterly basis. The Government will also improve flexibility by improving the existing arrangements for accessing advance pension payments.”
“From 20 September 2009, the existing Goods and Services Tax Supplement, Pharmaceutical Allowance, Utilities Allowance, Telephone Allowance (at the higher internet rate), and increased assistance of $2.49 per week for singles and $10.14 per week for couples combined will be included in the new fortnightly Pension Supplement.
To assist pensioners to meet lumpy costs, from 1 July 2010, pensioners will:(Who is going to assist the pensioners to understand this? Have to admit it should keep some jobs secure at CentrelinkSNIP...**way too long. Bolt Moderators.

What has the Labor government done to this country? Work hard all your life and pay taxes – both my in-laws did not receive pensions but times changed to assist all retirees (not withstanding millionaires) and now anyone who saved for their future is to be penalized. It will come back to bite the government in the bum when the beneficiaries of their family’s estate will no longer have worthwhile amounts bequeathed to them; therefore this will increase the number of old age citizens needing to claim a pension – if you know what I mean.
